First Day of School

Today was the first day of school in Austin, Texas -- my son's first day in high school. Yes, I made him take a photo in front of the school -- and yes, he was in his running clothes because he had XC practice before school. AND, he had to shower in front of others for the first time -- no one has seem him naked since he was 4. But he survived...and in fact, was disappointed that there wasn't more upper classman hazing. Whatever......I remember just trying to find my way around the maze of halls at school when I was a freshman. Of course, I loved seeing all my friends and the cute boys....and just having the feeling of a bit more freedom.

igoactive girl is finally healed and running pretty well again.....yippee! I have done all the hamstring and abductor exercises prescribed to me from the great PT at Sports Performance International....and have been carefully adding mileage and a little speed. So far, so good.

Good thing, because my highly competitive, very fast runner friend Cindy has signed us up for some partner adventure race...I truly must be crazy, but heck...always up for a little adventure. And fun....she swears it's just for fun!!!

And that's why I love exercise so much...it's truly fun for me. I know exercise can be such a bummer for alot of people and I'm blessed to enjoy it so much. I hope I am teaching my kids and the neighbors' kids and anyone I meet that getting movement in your day is a great way to live a long life. It's good for your body and your brain...and your overall well-being.

Here's to lifelong movement and fitness. And to surviving the first week of high school.
